Elements of Graphic Design

Graphic design can use the technique of image-based designs or type-based designs alone or together. Designs can include different combinations of the elements of line, shape, color, type, and texture.

Line: A line can be straight, curvy, thin, thick, or any design possible. The designer creates space or content of their design though lines. Lines can be a helpful guide to the viewer’s eye, or make other elements of design follow a path having the viewer look from the first point to the second point easily.

Shape; A shape creates a creative way to fill up space, balance out a design, or support some sort of text. A shape can be created from absolutely nothing, just structuring design and clarity through a white space.

Color: Color or no color it is a very important element of design. A brand can be influence by a designer though using color boldly or softly.

Type: A message can be transformed depending on the type of design it uses. Font, size, space, color and more, can have a great effect of what you are trying to communicate.

Texture: An advertisement may seem real depending on the texture used. Glossy or smooth, it gives the design a specific surface that can affect your design and add a sense of depth.
